Day 11

The trip has swung back into the 100% fun category. I feel like I might be a broken record, but I cannot express enough how much sunshine can make a difference when riding a bicycle. I woke up to a beautiful view of Black Lake, each camp site has a small trail down to the lake, so I made sure to walk down and enjoy my cup of coffee and Oatmeal as I looked out over the lake.  Before long I had assembled my bike gear and promptly got to peddling

I back tracked on the route a half mile or so before continuing mostly east for the day before heading north to finish.  Once again, the ATV trails and fire roads were fantastic.

I made a small detour of about a mile out and back to the Farmstead Creamery.  They do curbside ordering and have a ring camera setup, so they know when you show up.  I went with a salted caramel gelato latte (latte with a dollop of gelato put into it) and a raspberry muffin.  I chatted with my host who was one of the part owners about the business and then basked once again in the sun while enjoying the snack.

Later down the road I stopped off at Powell’s on Round Lake for you guessed it, a bacon cheeseburger (no 7) and a side of chili, oh and I couldn’t help but have a couple of local beers too.  Powell's is a relatively new building have been constructed on the location of the original Famous Dave's after it had burned to the ground.  Again, it was nice to chat with the folks sitting at the bar, one couple up for the weekend and another a local historian of sorts who gave me some nice explanations of things in the area.

The next stretch, along County Road B, was probably the busiest of the trip.  I bet I saw as many cars on that stretch as I’ve seen the entire trip, which I thinks speaks to how great the route is, but there was somewhat of a shoulder.

Making the turn north I stopped into Dollar General for some food stuffs before venturing north. Further north I had the opportunity to jump off on the Seeley path mountain bike trails that roll right up to ROAM Adventure Basecamp where I was camping for the night.

I had not booked a camp spot ahead of time so upon getting into camp I asked for help from the first campers I saw.  The saw my bike all loaded down and asked what I where I had been riding.  After hearing what I was doing they said "you must be wanting a beer" ahh people know to me too well.  Of course, I obliged.

ROAM is a blend between modern and rustic camping.  There is water available at different spots on the ground but no electricity.  They have a shower room with pay as you go showers, and the highlight is the sauna that is available to be checked out
